Bio

Vu is a PhD student supervised by Prof. Naomi Harte. His research focuses on multimodal speech understanding, particularly how multimodal signals facilitate agile turn-taking in both human–human and human–robot conversations. His long-term goal is to contribute to the development of full-duplex speech systems capable of more natural interactive communication. Before joining Trinity College Dublin, Vu worked on a range of speech recognition and speech classification problems in both research and industry. He was an undergraduate research student at Hanoi University of Science and Technology, Vietnam, and later a research intern at the Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A*STAR), Singapore.
